Welcome to Cherry Tree Holiday Cottage, located in a small picturesque village – Barkestone Le Vale in the heart of the Vale of Belvoir between the market towns of Melton Mowbray,
This cottage makes an ideal base for everyone. There are beautiful walks and renowned cycling on the doorstep by Grantham canal and Belvoir castle. There are also many options for horse riders. There are a wide selection of country pubs offering award winning food. You will enjoy fantastic scenery and many varied attractions in the local area. Belvoir Castle is a couple of miles away and within view of Barkestone le Vale. Rutland water and numerous country houses are in the vicinity. Families are well catered for too: all local pubs welcome children and dogs, and days out include the nearby Twin Lakes farm/theme park for children with petting farm and roller coaster rides.
We welcome families including their children and pets as well as couples looking for a romantic getaway. The dog flap (up to spaniel size) will mean you shouldn’t get too disturbed when your dog(s) look for adventure. Our patio area and garden is completely enclosed, making looking after the children easy, and the barbeque and wood fired chiminea should ensure you can make the most of an evening glass of wine. We keep a stock of things for dogs and children so your car boot can close!
We will welcome you to our cottage with a small hamper of complimentary wine, bread and milk, to make your first night a little easier. We ourselves enjoy similar holidays with and without the children. This shows in the added facilities we provide: we’ve toys for all ages, board games and many baby/toddler items (eg bottle warmer, sterillizer). We can also advise on local babysitters.

Cherry Tree Cottage is home from home. We stayed for 3 weeks in Aug 2011 with 2 children under 3 years & a dog. Richard & Sarah did everything to make our stay a pleasure, as did the neighbours next door to the cottage. The setting is peaceful & captures the beauty of the Vale. The view from the master bedroom window is delightful. On arrival we could not have asked for more, everything I could need for my children was there. This place is a real gem & the owners are the perfect holiday landlords. We will be back. (Aug 11)
My family and I stayed at Cherry Tree Cottage, Easter 2011 and used it as a base to see friends and family in the region. We had a lovely holiday and are still telling our friends about it a month later! As soon as we walked in through the door I felt at home. The rooms were plenty big enough for us and our three children, there was room in the kitchen to wheel the pram in if it rained. The boys played happily outside in the garden which was nice and secure and we were able to park the car right outside the cottage. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. and I can't wait to return. Thank you Richard. (Feb 2011)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Midlands. Were so pleased to be situated where we were. The cottage was great. Tks for the info. We drove around the villages which we loved. Had lunch in a village pub; fish & chips in Bottesford. Also spent a day in Nottingham - took the children ice skating. Enjoyed the Market area there. Thank you for your help with info when we arrived. We were very appreciatve to have milk, coffee etc on arrival. We arrived late & had not had time to shop. We would love to visit the area in summer & enjoy the walks etc. We would most definately return to Cherrytree Cottage. The Higgins family, Durban, South Africa (Jan 2011)
The cottage was lovely and homely and in great condition. We'd recommend the Windmill in Redmile to others - very welcoming and great food. We had a very relaxing break - thank you. Looking forward to next time. (Joanne, Dec 2010)
